That is Square Enix's own estimate for the demo, which covers the opening through the end of Chapter 1. The chapter is the same as in the full game, but levels and other progress are capped, so EXP earned past the cap does not carry over.
What the 3 to 5 hours cover
Square Enix gives the range for playing "the game's opening through the first chapter". It does not break down the estimate, and it has not said whether side activities in Chapter 1 are included. More exploration may extend your playtime; that is our inference, not Square Enix's.
Once you reach the demo's level cap, stop grinding for EXP. Square Enix's support article says EXP earned after a level cap or progression limit "is not stored and will not be carried over", so it adds nothing to your full-game save. The cap value itself has not been published.
How long is the full game?
Not announced. Square Enix's pages describe side content (Gilgamesh, the Colosseum, the Chamber of Arms, Ultima Weapon) but give no total playtime. We'll add a figure if Square Enix or a store listing publishes one before or after the 22 October 2026 launch.

The PlayStation Store website and the Steam demo page do not list a download size, and the Nintendo eShop web pages give sizes only for the full game, so those demo sizes are not in the table.

These are best-case estimates, assuming your connection runs at its full advertised speed. Real-world downloads are usually slower, and installation adds time. Steam's figure is the required free space, so the actual download may be smaller.
